Are you a working artist or creative entrepreneur in Dane County ready to grow your art into a thriving business? The Dane Arts Business of Art Fellowship is your chance to build the skills, community, and confidence to take your creative career to the next level.
This yearlong fellowship and accelerator—powered by StartingBlock Madison and Dane Arts—offers 25 selected artists the chance to receive hands-on training in business, marketing, sales, legal know-how, and more. It’s the bridge between creativity and sustainability, turning your passion into a profitable practice.

Who Should Apply?

The Dane Arts Business of Art Fellowship is for artists and creative entrepreneurs ready to treat their craft like a business. Whether you're a visual artist, performer, writer, musician, or maker, this program supports those looking to grow their income, reach new audiences, and build a sustainable practice. It’s open to emerging and mid-career creatives living in Dane County, whether you're self-taught, formally trained, or rooted in community work. If you're already selling your work, teaching, performing, or simply building momentum, this fellowship will help you take the next step. We’re looking for 25 curious, committed artists who are excited to invest in their business skills and connect with a supportive creative community.

Details:

Where: StartingBlock Madison (821 E. Washington Ave)

When: Once a month, typically the last Wednesday of  each month

Time: 2-4pm

Whats Included:

  • 12-month business and professional development curriculum

  • Guest speakers, workshops, and personalized mentoring sessions

  • 1 year flex-desk membership at StartingBlock

  • Community of fellow creatives and entrepreneurs
